How a battery system works

But if you are at work, or out during the day then you might not be able to use this solar electricity effectively and send this back to the grid. Battery storage allows you to store that energy until you return home and need to start using the lights, appliances, etc, at which point, the battery will release the power for you to use. This way, you use the power you have generated, saving money by drawing less power from the grid at peak times when it’s more expensive. Depending on your electricity supplier, you may also be able to sell excess power back to the grid by joining the SEG scheme.
